Communication
Welcome to Communications Communication is literally almost always at our fingertips. We are no longer confined to “snail mail” and landlines as our only means of communicating with others. We now have SMS, instant messaging, email, Twitter, Facebook, video conferencing, and a plethora of other new communication technologies that are being brought to market at a rapid pace. In today's hyper-paced environment, communication is both instant and pervasive. News and information travels around the world in seconds. What use to take days can now be communicated in minutes. What use to take minutes now takes seconds. Information can be shared almost anywhere and at any time. We must be bold and embrace these changes to aid us in our work. Use of these various resources can be a blessing when used to spread the Gospel of our Lord and Savior.
The ministry in the Communications department encompasses: - Public Relations – Helping to build, monitor, and protect the image and name of the churches within our conference.
- Media Relations – Raising public awareness of our local churches, its members, its mission, and its message. This includes getting church activities and events noted in the media; and helping to publicize the church’s views in the news adequately and accurately.
- News and Information – Keeping our churches and members informed about upcoming activities. Equally as important, we share local church news with Conference, Union, and Division communication directors, as well as with the Adventist family worldwide.
- Advertising and Promotion – Strategically promoting all church programs and evangelism campaigns to attract attendance.
The Communication Representative
It’s true that communication is central to every aspect of our local church
structure today, technically making every leader in the church a communicator.
But as the appointed communication leader, your role in ministry is specifically
defined to insure that members are kept informed and the church is properly
represented to the public. Four areas which encompass this ministry as communication leader in the local church are: Public Relations, Media Relations, Media Relations and Advertising & Promotion
