Adult Ministries
Welcome to Adult Ministries- And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. Acts 2:17
The above scripture shows readers that everyone will have a role to play in the last days. Both young and old are responsible for sharing the message of Christ and His second coming to the world. In conjunction with the Youth and Young Adult ministries, the South Atlantic Conference Adult Ministry aims to help turn our churches and communities into havens of hope for the downtrodden. Through leadership development and strategic planning, the Adult Ministry seeks to advance the work of the gospel. Facilitating activities, implementing effective programs, and training young people to lead the evangelical work will help proliferate the number of effective ministries in our church.
Servant Leader “Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” -Martin Luther King Jr.-
In order to understand true servant leadership, one must observe and study the model Christ gave to us during his ministry on earth.
Philippians 2:1-7
1If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, 2Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 4Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. 5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: Matthew 20:26-28
26But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; 27And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: 28Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Matthew 23:11-12
11But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. The South Atlantic Conference Adult Ministry perpetuates Jesus Christ’s model of leadership by serving other ministries in addition to outside community efforts. Through our service, we hope to lead others to a deeper and more meaningful understanding of Jesus Christ and his love for us.
Strategic Planning Strategic planning is an organization's process of defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue that strategy, including its capital and people.
The process results in the development of a strategic plan. This plan identifies the future direction of an institution and maps how the direction will be achieved. If an effective strategic planning process is in place in an institution, the following should be evidenced:
• A clearly defined and articulated institutional direction. • Institutional ability to choose priorities based on self-evaluation and understanding. • Knowledge and ownership of the institutional direction by all major institutional constituencies. • Clearly identified placement of the institution within the local and church environments (including the educational environment). • Institutional openness to growth and change. • Institutional ability to respond thoughtfully, but quickly, to new challenges. • Unified plans and actions, with clear lines of accountability. • Strong financial and resourcing plans to back identified strategic directions. • Institutional leader’s constant focus on the plan with all constituent groups. • An efficient but effective assessment and reporting strategy.

The South Atlantic Adult Ministry team will use the strategic planning method to layout the vision for our churches. This method will not only help others understand the goals of the leadership, but will also give focus and direction to the Adult Ministry and all those aligned with the ministry.
The Adult Ministries Coordinator
God asks the church to be a community of people sharing a common purpose and
fellowship, continually growing in faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God. Paul describes
the church as “his body, the fullness of him who filleth every thing in every way” (Eph. 1:22).
God calls us into His body for the purpose of establishing a saving relationship with Him
and community with one another. The Holy Spirit convicts our minds, leads us to repentance,
and plants us within the church.
The Holy Spirit is the vital life force of the church. When you come to Christ, you are prepared
by the Holy Spirit, who has already led you to repentance, for service. Thus, the church is a
servant body. Created for service, it serves the Lord in praise, in love, and the world in humility.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared
beforehand, that we should walk in them” (Eph. 2:10).
