Sabbath April 20th marked Senior Ministries Day at Ebenezer Seventh-day Adventist Church in Augusta GA. It was a day bringing together seniors of all ages from the church and community. Invited guest speaker Dr. Ralph Peay, Director Senior Ministries, South Atlantic Conference shared a timely message ‘There is No One Like God’ based on Isaiah 46:1-4; anything that takes the place of God in our lives is an Idol and becomes a burden instead of a blessing when God is our focus.
A highlight of the morning service was a community service award given to Mrs. Lt. Col. JoyAnne Johnson Holloway an educator working in the local school system whose husband, Mr. Lorenzo Holloway III is a son of an Tuskegee Airman, Lorenzo Holloway. In the afternoon Dr. Peay hosted a workshop ‘Scams and Seniors’ sharing insights into strategies seniors need to know to avoid becoming a scamming victim of strangers or in a growing number of cases friends or family members.
The day ended with and old time Adventist Youth Ministry (AYM) program hosted by Gary and Felicia King, joint senior ministry leaders at Ebenezer.
